George Pickens has never been a fan of answering tough questions. The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver opted to remain silent when reporters asked him to clarify the supposed miscommunication between him and quarterback Russell Wilson leading to an interception in their 29-10, week 17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs corner Trent McDuffie intercepted a straightforward pass from Wilson inside the Chiefs’ red zone before Pickens could catch it at the end of the first quarter. Later, Wilson hinted that the third-year wideout strayed off course of his route, allowing McDuffie to make the interception.

I think he was going to go vertical, but at the end of the day it can’t happen.

Russell Wilson said after the game.

On Thursday, a reporter tried to get a reaction out of Pickens.

It seemed like you and Russ weren’t on the same page in that interception against the Chiefs. How does that happen, what do you guys do to address it?

Alan Saunders of Steelers Now asked Pickens.

The atmosphere inside the locker room changed after Saunders asked the question. An irritated George Pickens questioned the reporter.

You said me and Russell isn’t on the same page?

Picked asked.

Saunders claimed that’s what Russell Wilson said. Pickens chose to stay silent after the reply, and the interview ended.

Should the Steelers fans be worried about George Pickens?

There’s no question that George Pickens is a talented receiver and can be among the top in a few years but at the same time, he has one massive problem. Pickens’ frequent mood swings are an issue. Whether it’s not seeing enough targets or bickering with players from other teams, the Georgia graduate always makes his voice heard.

On one hand, it shows the passion for the game but on the other, this causes a lot of problems for the Steelers. Recently, he found himself fighting with Greg Newsome II instead of attempting to catch a touchdown pass when the Steelers faced the Cleveland Browns. Even before that, his work ethic came under scrutiny after not making an effort to block an opponent on a touchdown run.

It’s certainly things that I’m open to addressing and will and do. I just don’t detail them in settings like this, because it’s business between he and I in terms of his growth and development as a player.

Head coach Mike Tomlin back in October said via Sports Illustrated.

Pickens played a total of 13 games (missed three games due to injury). He racked up 58 catches from 97 targets for 900 yards and three touchdowns, twice crossing 100 yards: a week four loss to the Indianapolis Colts 7 from 11 targets for 113 yards and a week seven win over the New York Jets, 5 from 9 targets for 111 yards and one touchdown.
