It is not like criticisms do not find their way to Jerry Jones‘ ears. It’s just that the billionaire does not instantly bow down to negative comments. He, however, probably kept those narratives in mind and traded for George Pickens in an attempt to improve the offense.

There were several question marks about the star wideout, especially after his questionable demeanor when he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jones hoped that a new environment, along with the attention he would demand on the field, would help the Cowboys succeed.

The 24-year-old has so far been coming into his own with his new team, posting 98 yards in their first two games. In their Sunday game against the Chicago Bears, Cowboys fans expected their team to utilize Pickens and CeeDee Lamb‘s skills to demolish their opponents.

But early on, the visitors fell behind as the Bears went on a scoring blitz. The Cowboys responded in the 2nd quarter, but then drew a blank in the 3rd.

Early in the 4th quarter, they had the ball in their hands and knew they still had enough time to overcome the 17-point deficit. On the opening drive, after advancing to the Bears’ 41-yard line, the Cowboys faced a 3rd-and-12.

Dak Prescott rolled to his right and threw a dart to George Pickens. Had he caught it, he could have fought to gain a 1st down. Instead, the ball slipped out of his hands and landed in the outstretched palms of Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.

Knowing he just cost his team the game, Pickens was seen with his head down on the sidelines. He then got up, picked up his helmet, and slammed it into the ground twice.

Jerry Jones unhappy with George Pickens’ interception

Jones brought in George Pickens with the view that he and CeeDee Lamb would become the base of a talented offense. He invariably received a skilled wideout for two mid-round picks.

The billionaire spent that draft capital believing that the former Georgia Bulldog would come in hungry to prove everyone wrong, and that could be the catalyst for their success.

But when that same player does not catch a ball after his quarterback placed it perfectly, it is not what Jones had in mind. He was seen visibly upset with Pickens’ slip that ended up in an interception.

Jones shaking his head generally means he would get the point across to the team, and possibly to the concerned player. With the way he has handled criticism in the past, how George Pickens handles this situation is a major question.

Cowboys will need George Pickens in top form if CeeDee Lamb misses time

The Dallas Cowboys struggled to make any sense out of their 1st-quarter drives after an opening drive fumble, and then losing their most important receiver on the next attempt.

CeeDee Lamb injured his left ankle on that drive and had to make it to their medical tent. He did return in the 2nd quarter, but then could not continue for long before being ruled out for the game.

On a day when a plethora of injuries impacted several games, Cowboys fans hope Lamb does not become a permanent member of the injury report.

If he does miss some time, it will be up to George Pickens to ease their loss. He has to shed his frustration from this embarrassing loss to the Chicago Bears and focus on being the best version of himself.

They will next face former teammate Micah Parsons and his Green Bay Packers. It will be at home, and with his owner hoping his team proves to his former player that they are better off without him.
