George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb became the subject of media scrutiny when Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer benched both his leading wide receivers in the 1st drive of their game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Lamb dispelled rumors that he was throwing up outside Red Rock Casino. Rather, he was benched as he had missed curfew the night before the game.
In the case of George Pickens, it was initially thought that he was also benched for missing the cutoff time. However, while speaking with 105.3 The FAN, the Cowboys’ Executive Vice President Stephen Jones revealed what the real reason was.
I think a lot of people thought that they had to be together because they are great friends, but believe it or not, one was (because) of the night before, leading into the morning, and the other one was missing the (team) buses.
Stephen Jones said, as quoted by Jon Machota
Going by his words, it seems he is referring to the one that missed the night before was CeeDee Lamb. Therefore, the other one who missed the bus would be George Pickens.
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on @1053thefan on Brian Schottenheimer disciplining CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens by benching them the first series: “He’s not gonna play favorites with anybody. He felt very strongly that that was part of it. I think a lot of people thought that they…

Stephen Jones went on to praise the Cowboys’ head coach for holding both his receivers accountable and then hugging them when one scored later in the game.
He believes players have to be handed what they give, and Brian Schottenheimer was right to bench them in the 1st drive, and then allow them to take the field.
Dallas reporter believes missing team bus could impact George Pickens’ contract talks
All City DLLS reporter Clarence Hill Jr. noticed what Stephen Jones said about George Pickens. As someone who has been covering the team for nearly 3 decades, he had a theory.
Pickens did not make the team bus in Vegas. I saw it in real time. I asked before game. Cowboys lied about it. They had big game and they won. No big deal now. This will be brought up when it’s time talk contract. Just wait. Nobody will be laughing it off then

When Jones traded for the 6′ 3″ wideout, many had expressed these concerns. His performances and his relationship with CeeDee Lamb masked them for so long.
Now that they have their first incident, Hill Jr. believes Jones will use this against George Pickens when it comes to adding clauses or bargaining his salary.
Jerry Jones has a problem with players partying ahead of games
After CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were benched, the news was bound to reach Jerry Jones. When the hosts of 103.5 The FAN asked him if he had a problem with players partying, he replied:

Yes, I do. I don’t have any problem with partying. … But the idea is this is a business trip.

This answer could become a problem for both the star wide receivers. That benching could be a warning, as Jones knows how to reprimand his players if they repeat such mistakes.

The billionaire seemingly does not want players to go partying the night before the game. Players usually go to restaurants and nightclubs. But staying past curfew hours or partying too hard is not something that is expected the night before a game.
Just recently, another NFL athlete was shot after entering into a dispute in New York at 2 a.m. After such incidents, Jones might prefer that his players be careful.
