Mike Tomlin won’t be happy when he rolls back the Hail Mary tape and finds George Pickens losing his cool. The third-year wide receiver may be a talented player, but he often gets swayed by his emotions under unfavorable conditions.

It was snowing in Cleveland, turning the turf completely white by the end of the game. This made life hell for the Steelers offense, which fumbled the ball twice and even wasted a few third-down opportunities while trying to run the ball.

When Browns quarterback Jameis Winston threw the interceptions with four minutes left, the Steelers thought they would go down the other end and grab the win. Justin Fields overthrew George Pickens, and he wasn’t happy. Pickens only had 4 catches all night, fueling the frustration further.

Winston made amends by scoring a rushing touchdown to give the Browns the lead but failed the two-point conversion, keeping the visitors in the tie. The game eventually went down to the wire as Russell Wilson threw a Hail Mary, which was batted away by the combination of Denzel Ward and Grant Delpit to secure a third win of the season. It ended 19-24 for the Browns.

Eagle-eyed fans on social media pointed out a very key detail. Right before Ward and Delpit impeded the pass, Amazon Prime cameras caught George Pickens tugging on the shirt of a Browns player.

George Pickens thinks weather played a role in Steelers loss

The snow made it hard to spot Pickens at first, but one of the cameras filmed what the 23-year-old was up to when the ball was coming down inside the Brown’s endzone.

As it turns out, Pickens tried to outmuscle Browns corner Greg Newsome II. Newsom also held onto the Steelers’ wideout as both players went out of bounds and crashed into the padded railing. Eyewitness accounts revealed a slightly heated altercation between the two before being separated by teammates.

Regardless, the game ended, and Pickens lost the battle and the war. The Steelers lost their third game of the season and took a step back in the race for the AFC #1 seed. Pickens ended the night with just 48 yards. After the game, he spoke with the reporters and claimed the weather saved the Browns.

I don’t really think the Cleveland Browns are a good team at all. I think the conditions kind of saved them today.

Pickens in 2024 so far has 52 receptions for 776 yards and 2 touchdowns. Up next, the Steelers will play local rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, while the Browns face the Broncos before the two teams play each other again at Acrisure Stadium.
