Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has once again stirred the pot of speculation about his future with the team. The young star posted a black-and-white photo alongside Tom Brady, a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders
The NFL fanbase didn’t take much time to start deducing a move from Pittsburgh to Las Vegas. The Raiders, who lost their main wide receiver in Davante Adams midseason, needs a solid wideout. Pickens could also form a close bond with tight end Brock Bowers – which could make them look pretty uneasy to face at any point.
Pickens, drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has shown flashes of brilliance despite inconsistent quarterback play. Over three seasons, he has recorded 2,841 receiving yards, with his best campaign in 2023, where he totaled 1,140 yards and five touchdowns.
However, his role in Pittsburgh’s offense is now in question following the team’s recent acquisition of DK Metcalf.
With the Steelers committing a five-year, $150 million deal to Metcalf, Pickens’ future in Pittsburgh appears uncertain. The franchise has historically been cautious about investing heavily in multiple receivers, and with Aaron Rodgers potentially joining the team, Pickens’ role could shift further. Furthermore, his actions in the last few months including showing up late and the obvious poor performances aren’t good signs for an extension.

The Las Vegas Raiders aren’t the only time snooping around for a potential George Pickens trade
ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes recently emphasized that the New England Patriots need to play more aggressively on NFL Live. She stressed upon the urgency for the Patriots to surround their second year quarterback Drake Maye with more weapons.

Mina Kimes highlighted that it cannot be a random person picked from the draft. She, then took it a step further, identifying an intriguing trade possibility: Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.
I would pick up the phone and call the Steelers about George Pickens now that they’ve signed D.K. Metcalf. They have to be aggressive about doing something, because right now Maye does not have enough help.
Mina Kimes noted
While the idea of the Steelers trading Pickens isn’t a foregone conclusion, team beat writer Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review believes there’s a real chance it happens.
There is definitely a good chance. I think by the draft, [the Steelers] will have pretty much everything in place. I could still see a draft-day trade coming, with them moving Pickens to maybe get a second-rounder.
Joe Rutter said on the Breakfast With Benz podcast
With the draft approaching and both the Patriots and Raiders potentially in the mix, the race to acquire George Pickens could become one of the most intriguing storylines to watch.
