“Respect the conditions”: George Russell outbursts on Valtteri Bottas after horrendous Imola collision
George Russell and Valtteri Bottas
If only you thought of seeing it all in Bahrain, during Emilia Romagna Grand Prix’s Lap 32 when George Russell collided with Valtteri Bottas in an attempt to overtake him the drama seems to be not stopping anytime soon. Russell surely did not hold back as he went straight to Bottas’ cockpit after the clash to ignite more fire.
George Russell provoked Valtteri Bottas to an extent that he could be seen tapping on the Finn’s helmet as he laid stationary inside the car. Since that he has taken Twitter to further expain his side of the crash.
What did George Russell say?
“Thanks for all the messages. I’m fine, just disappointed. At the end of the day, it’s an unfortunate incident. You’re entitled to defend your position. But at 330kph, you have to respect the speed and the conditions when doing so. Gutted for the team. They deserved more today.”
On the main straight, it appeared that Valtteri Bottas slightly changed his line as Russell came close to him. This prompted Russell to take a precautionary reaction and move to the right. His wheels touched the grass, and he lost control of his car, spinning into Valtteri Botta’s side.
This incident brought out the red flag as the FIA suspended the race. This was done to ensure that the marshalls could safely carry their stricken cars off the track. The race had then resumed, with The Dutchman, Max Verstappenw inning the race and Hamilton recovering to take second ahead of Lando Norris.
