The Dallas Mavericks have started their 2024-25 NBA season on a positive note. They have won 4 out of 6 games they’ve played. Their most recent matchup was against the Orlando Magic, which the Mavs ended up winning easily. However, despite the Mavs winning, it is their star man, Luka Doncic, who is trending amongst the NBA community. This is regarding his post-match press conference.
Doncic revealed to the reporters that he was trash-talking to the Magic players in ‘German.’ Earlier, it was reported that Doncic knew four different languages. He can speak English, Serbian, Slovenian, and Spanish very well. Now, German can be added to this list, too. Interestingly, he has trash-talked with many players in their native language.
He also stated that he learned German for ‘5 years in school.’ However, he did not state what exactly he told ‘Maxi’ (Moritz Wagner) in the interview. That said, Doncic dropped a whopping 32 points on the Magic. His teammates Kyrie Irving and Daniel Gafford chimed in with 17 and 18 points, respectively.

“I heard them talking in German, so I said some things in German…”

On the other hand, with 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists, Franz Wagner led the Magic. Also, the Magic only made 8 of 41 three-point tries and lost 52-36 in the paint. This showcased their poor shooting ability against one of the top sides in the league. The Magic will have to improve many aspects of their game if they hope to secure a Playoff spot this season.
Luka Doncic reveals ‘smart way’ of avoiding technical fouls from refs
Luka Doncic has developed a special method for avoiding technical fouls: using a foreign language to curse at referees. Speaking fluently in English, Serbian, Spanish, Slovenian, and German, Doncic claimed he frequently takes advantage of the language barrier while interacting with officials. This is what one would call a ‘smart way’ of getting away with an important call in the game.
Doncic is known for his inappropriate behavior on the court, as he often gets angry at the refs when certain calls don’t go his way. However, his ability to speak various languages comes to his aid. Through this, he can vent his anger at the referees in different languages the officials can’t understand. He hopes to have a top-notch season with his side this campaign.
