Gervonta Davis put his WBA lightweight title on the line against Lamont Roach this past weekend at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It turned out to be an extremely controversial fight, which ended in a majority draw. However, many fans have raised questions about Davis’s hairdresser, who allegedly made a huge mistake.

In the ninth round, Davis surprisingly took a knee but the referee didn’t count it as a knockdown. After the fight, Davis mentioned that he stopped because of the grease in his hair, which was burning his eyes. Fans then tracked the hairdresser who had to face a barrage of negative comments. She also shared her opinion, clearing the air around it.

However, fans didn’t accept it, and trolled her for using too much grease on Davis’s hair. Many users also mocked her losing her best client over such a mistake. It got to a point where the stylist had to turn off her comment section on that particular post about Davis.

Many fans and experts argue that the referee made a critical mistake by not awarding Roach a knockdown. This decision could have changed the fight’s outcome and led to a new champion. Meanwhile, criticism toward Davis continues to grow, which includes some of the biggest names in the boxing community.

Former rival want Gervonta Davis fight result to be overturned 

Going into the fight against Lamont Roach, Gervonta Davis was the betting favorite due to his undefeated professional record. He was on a four fight knockout streak, and was even thinking about potentially retiring in 2025. However, after the underwhelming performance, the boxer is now ready to fight 4-5 fights more before hanging up his gloves.

Davis’s former opponent, Ryan Garcia, shares a notable history with him, having faced off in the ring in 2023. Garcia openly shared his thoughts on the fight, stating that he believed Roach deserved the victory. He even urged the boxing commission to take serious action about the incident. 

What I’m wondering is if the commission only makes changes when you complain and cry like Haney or they actually care about the integrity of the sport! Nothing against tank but since the commission switches my victory they should switch this victory for roach. They won’t tho bc they were out to get me from the beginning.

Ryan Garcia felt the wrath of the commission last year where his win against Devin Haney was overturned to a no contest. However, the main reason was much more serious as he was found positive for banned substances. The boxer is currently suspended and is yet to make his professional return.
