Gervonta Davis, the reigning undefeated WBA lightweight champion, is set to face Frank Martin on June 15 at Las Vegas’s MGM Grand Garden Arena. Their first press conference had heated moments, and boxing fans could feel animosity in the air. Both boxers met inside the ring during a sparring session. As such, Davis and Martin are quite confident in their boxing prowess, which they stated during their face-off.
Davis will enter the ring again after his massive PPV event against Ryan Garcia in April 2023. Martin, who is also undefeated, will fight after almost a year. Furthermore, he was asked about his thoughts on being the underdog during the press conference. While Martin responded calmly, ‘Tank’ continued interrupting him. Subsequently, during their verbal exchange, Davis also shifted his attention towards Martin’s girlfriend.

While Martin was trying to speak, he asked Gervonta Davis to stay quiet and mocked him for being a ‘keyboard warrior.’ This prompted Tank to continue doing this to his opponent while questioning his boxing skills. In addition, Davis decides to rope Martin’s girlfriend in during this time to get under his skin.
His tactic seemed to have worked because Martin was visibly annoyed and began to speak to Davis directly instead of using the microphone. Hence, their first press conference proved to be intense and heated, and they are currently waiting to fight on the same card as David Benavidez vs. Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
Gervonta Davis defends Ryan Garcia
Garcia tested positive in the drug test, which was conducted before the Devin Haney fight caught everyone off guard. The results came several days after Garcia’s impressive victory against ‘The Dream.’ However, a more surprising turn of events was Davis passionately defending his rival against these allegations.
Initially, Tank claimed that Garcia was innocent and suggested that Eddie Hearn had something to do with this. Furthermore, he is still maintaining the same stance and has questioned why the test results came out so late.
In addition, Tank also mentioned how it takes 72 hours for the result to come out. Hence, Davis firmly believes that the test result was a conspiracy to keep Haney undefeated and to take away Ryan Garcia‘s victory from him.
