Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard’s lack of ‘synergy’ causing problems for Bucks says former champion
Kendrick Perkins believes the Milwaukee Bucks chemistry issues are undoing Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard's greatness so far.
Milwaukee Bucks are losing despite Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard's elite play
Year two of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard playing together for the Milwaukee Bucks was supposed to be the year they contend for an NBA title. That is the reason why they brought in Doc Rivers, so that the team could play together and win. But four games in, and they are languishing with a 1-3 record.
Their opening night win against a depleted Philadelphia 76ers on the road was good. But then they lost to the retooling Chicago Bulls and the lottery focused Brooklyn Nets. That too, both losses were in the double-digits.
Then came the defending champion Boston Celtics, and even though they tried for nearly three-quarters, the champions surged ahead and won. This start has the likes of Kendrick Perkins give a worrying analysis while on ESPN’s NBA Today.
Perkins believes that something is not right in the Milwaukee Bucks’ locker room which is not bringing out the best from them, as other than Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, no one is actually contributing.

That will be a problem if they are to win games. He wants the coaching staff to figure out how to get the other players going. But he knows it will be a problem as the players do not seem to have the will to win game.
Patrick Beverley’s loss is affecting Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard
The former champion shed light on the game against the Brooklyn Nets as one they should have won easily. That team is rumored to be looking at nabbing Cooper Flagg in the next draft. Add to that, their current roster does not strike fear into anyone. Keeping all that into perspective, Perkins added this to his analogy:
The shoutout to Patrick Beverley was based off what he has seen from the Milwaukee Bucks so far. To let him walk when there was no one else in the team who is a bonafide leader, was a mistake in Perkins’ eyes. With the way they are playing, it is evident to him that the team is lacking that leadership.
