The blockbuster move of Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat was undoubtedly one of the biggest moves of the offseason this year. After missing the playoffs with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, Antetokounmpo joined the Heat in what was the first major move of the summer.
Antetokounmpo was drafted by the Bucks as the 15th pick in the 2013 NBA draft. He spent 13 seasons in Milwaukee and made it his home. During his stint with them, he led them to their first championship in 50 years in 2021. After all the success and accolades in Milwaukee, he became a fan favorite in the city.
However, Antetokounmpo has found a new home now. According to the latest news, it has been reported that the Greek Freak purchased a newly built mansion in Pinecrest for $13.5 million. Pinecrest is a South Florida neighborhood with a long history of housing Heat players and other athletes.
It is a 12,000-square-foot mansion. The mansion includes eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a media room, a pool and Jacuzzi, and a guest house.

It looks like Giannis Antetokounmpo is making himself more comfortable in his new city after his move from the Bucks. His latest investment is a good sign for Heat fans, as it looks like he is there to stay for a while and win championships.
While it is a big splurge from the Greek star, it is a luxurious mansion. He will not be too bothered by the price as he is eligible to sign an extension starting October 1. If he waits till next year, he would become eligible to sign a four-year, $275 million max extension.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s new home is right around the corner from Tyler Herro’s property
The Heat have struggled since their 2023 Finals run. After finishing in the Play-In spots, they were eliminated by the Charlotte Hornets in the Play-In Tournament and missed the playoffs. Hence, some big changes were needed to put them back in contention for next season.
The trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo saw the Heat give up Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis and also three first-round picks, one pick swap and one second-rounder. The trade saw an end to Herro’s seven-year stint in Miami.
Catherine Odom of the Miami Herald noted that Herro also lived in Pinecrest after he purchased a property for $12.5 million in 2022. After his move to the Bucks, his property has been listed for $12 million. The property is within the same proximity as Antetokounmpo’s.
Pinecrest is a very popular neighborhood for athletes in Miami. The relative privacy compared to more central parts of Miami makes it very appealing to athletes and celebrities. Another reason is its close proximity to private schools.
Jeff Teague picks Giannis Antetokounmpo to win the MVP next season
There is no doubt that Giannis Antetokounmpo has been one of the best players in the league over the last decade. Unfortunately, he has not had any postseason success since winning the championship and Finals MVP in 2021.

Antetokounmpo struggled with injuries last season and played just 36 games. Despite the Bucks’ poor campaign, he averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists last season. With the Heat making several changes to their roster, the front office have built their team around the 31-year-old.
Former NBA champion Jeff Teague believes that his former teammate will win his third regular-season MVP next season.

Antetokounmpo’s main reason to join the Heat was to contend for championships. He is raring to go and make a mark in his debut season in Miami. If healthy, it is almost certain that he will be a strong MVP candidate in the 2026-27 campaign. He will be battling for the award against the likes of reigning two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, Luka Doncic and others.
