It certainly looks like Giannis Antetokounmpo is a one-man team in Milwaukee. The ‘Greek Freak’ has had little to no help this season as the Milwaukee Bucks find themselves in a precarious position at the moment. Since lifting the NBA championship in 2021, the Bucks management have done a relatively poor job in surrounding Antetokounmpo with the right players and talent.

The Bucks are currently placed at 10th in the Eastern Conference standings with a disappointing 10-13 record as they fighting for a play-in spot for now. It is going to get a lot harder for Doc Rivers and his men as Giannis Antetokounmpo injured himself in their 113-109 win over the Detroit Pistons at the Fiserv Forum on Wednesday night.

Despite eventually winning the match, it is a huge loss for the Bucks as Antetokounmpo is putting up numbers that would put him in the conversation for league MVP but his team’s poor record would rule him out for now. The two-time MVP is currently averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists.

But with the Bucks not looking like championship contenders, it seems like Antetokounmpo would be wasting the prime years of his career in Milwaukee. The former champion has often said he loves the city of Milwaukee. However, if the organization were not able to build a championship anytime soon, then the two-time league MVP may be forced to request for a trade again.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst revealed that Antetokounmpo has asked for a trade and the Bucks were looking for the best possible trade for both parties.

A number of teams would like to get their hands on Antetokounmpo as someone of his caliber would elevate a franchise to championship aspirations.

Giannis Antetokounmpo to New York Knicks trade explored by Insider

The signs that Antetokounmpo may want to leave the Bucks started when the 30-year-old distanced himself from the team on social media. Following Damian Lillard‘s exit, it looks like Antetokounmpo does not believe he has a future in Milwaukee anymore.

Speaking on ESPN Cleveland, Brian Windhorst mentioned that Antetokounmpo has requested to be traded to the New York Knicks.

The Bucks called the Knicks and asked for an offer for Giannis because Giannis said ‘I want to be a Knick’. So, people (are like), ‘Oh my God, he deleted a photo from May where he had a Bucks logo.’ Guys, he asked to be traded already.

While there are high chances that Antetokounmpo will be leaving the Bucks, it is a matter of when as it is likely that the Greek superstar may have to wait till the offseason to get traded.

Luka Doncic showed interest in pairing with Giannis Antetokounmpo

Every star in the league would love to be paired with Antetokounmpo as it would automatically push the club’s chances of winning the championship significantly up. While Antetokounmpo has shown interest in the Knicks, it may be really hard at the moment. This is because the Knicks gave up a lot of their picks in acquiring Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns.

One star who enquired about Antetokounmpo during all the trade rumors was Los Angeles Lakers guard, Luka Doncic. As the Lakers prepare for life in the post-LeBron James era, pairing up two superstars like Doncic and Antetokounmpo would send chills to the rest of the league.

While Antetokounmpo has not given any indications that he would like to join the Lakers, Doncic has shown that he was committed to winning his first NBA championship. The move did not gain any traction but it may be something to watch out for in the coming offseason as James’ career draws to a close.
