The NBA All-Star Game was a four-team mini-tournament rather than a one-game showdown. The event faced ridicule in recent times for its substandard level of play. However, the new All-Star lineup was meant to boost the intensity and visual appeal of the showdown. Nothing as such happened on Saturday or Sunday, with fans labeling the event as a ‘disaster. Notably, NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo came up with an interesting proposal.

Antetokounmpo believes he can improve things further. He stated that his idea would be to make the event, Team USA vs. Team World, with host cities rotating between the United States and other places of the world such as China and Brazil. The Milwaukee Bucks great believes this would shake things up and enhance the game’s intensity.

In addition, Antetokounmpo also took to X to make his opinions known to the NBA community. Giannis Antetkounmpo wrote on X, “2027 All star game should be in Rio de Janeiro or in a city in China!” In addition to these two nations, the Bucks star also claimed earlier that the event can also take place in countries like France and England.

It’s unclear whether this new approach will rock things beyond the extent the Bucks’ star man hopes. Additionally, it is usually difficult to persuade players to go all out in a midseason showcase. Given the high intensity of the league this season, they will continue to safeguard themselves from injury regardless of the format.

Giannis Antetokounmpo backtracks on dunk contest promise

On Saturday, Osceola Magic guard Mac McClung won the dunk contest after obtaining four perfect scores. Soon after this, Ja Morant took to X to post about his participation in next year’s contest. Giannis Antetokounmpo responded to Morant that if he participated, the Bucks star would do it as well.

However, on Sunday, Antetokounmpo backtracked on his dunk contest promise. Antetokounmpo revealed that ‘he got hacked’ and it was actually his son’s tweeting via his official X account regarding the dunk contest.

I got hacked. I got hacked last night. While I was sleeping, they woke up in the middle of the night, came next to my nightstand, took my phone out of my charger, went to their room, tweeted, and I found out this morning.

Although Antetokounmpo continues to be one of the NBA’s most gifted athletes, the NBA dunk contest is very different from dunking during a live game. Fans were surely excited to watch the Bucks star appear in his second dunk contest appearance in 13 years. However, after his recent admission, that does not seem to be the case anymore.
