The whole situation surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks is looking very grey at the moment. Things have been going from bad to worse for the club this season. After a disappointing loss to the Denver Nuggets without Nikola Jokic on Sunday, the Bucks were blown away 139-106 by the Minnesota Timberwolves, who played without their star player, Anthony Edwards, at the Fiserv Forum on Tuesday night.
The Bucks were down by as much as 31 points at halftime, tying their biggest halftime deficit of the season. The loss was a big blow to their playoff chances, as they currently find themselves in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 17-23 record, 1.5 games behind the 10th-place Chicago Bulls.
There were several reports that the ‘Greek Freak’ requested a trade in the offseason, but nothing materialized. However, after a poor start to the season, rumors about Giannis Antetokounmpo wanting out started to resurface. The whole chaotic situation brought in some criticism of Antetokounmpo from pundits, as they believed that the Bucks forward is not being open about his needs.
Considering their Tuesday match was at home, the fans were left largely dissatisfied and made their feelings known. They booed the coaches and players who made their way out of the tunnel towards the locker room at halftime. But Antetokounmpo did not hold back. After making an and-one layup, the 31-year-old booed them right back.
After the loss, Antetokounmpo reacted to being booed by his home fans for the first time in his career.
When I get booed, I boo back. When people don’t believe in me, I don’t tend to be with them. I tend to be against them. I don’t think anybody has the right to tell me how I should act on [a] basketball court after I’ve been here 13 years. And I’m basically the all-time leader in everything.
Q: "You got booed at home…Were you booing back?"

Giannis: "When people don't believe in me…I tend to be against them…I've never been a part of something like that and I don't think it's fair…I've been here 13 years and I'm basically the all-time leader in everything" pic.twitter.com/QW87Cd0yHb
Despite the Bucks’ struggles this season, Antetokounmpo has continued to put up impressive performances and MVP numbers. The Bucks forward is currently averaging 29.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists on 64.9% shooting in 26 appearances this season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo on not asking for a trade from the Bucks
There has been a lot of drama surrounding their star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, since the beginning of the season. After trading away Damian Lillard, Antetokounmpo was not pleased with the Bucks’ front office and felt that the management did not build a roster around him to contend for a championship this year.
However, Antetokounmpo revealed that he would never ask for a trade in an interview with Sam Amick of The Athletic.

There will never be a chance, and there will never be a moment, that I will come out and say ‘I want a trade’. That’s not in my nature. I am not (going anywhere). I am invested in this team. I want to turn this team around. I want to play good basketball. I want to be healthy. I want to help my teammates. I wanna win games. We have a lot of games in front of us. I’m locked in. My priority is just staying healthy.
It looks like Antetokounmpo has no plans to go anywhere. But it also puts pressure on the organization to build a championship-contending roster. No matter what happens in the future, Antetokounmpo has already cemented himself as one of, if not the greatest, player in Bucks history.
Giannis Antetokounmpo contradicts his head coach
Despite the horrid show for the Bucks on Tuesday, Antetokounmpo scored a team-high 25 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists, shooting at 9-13 from the field, but had committed seven turnovers.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers was asked about his team’s performance, and he pinned it on the Bucks being tired from their four-game road trip. But Antetokounmpo disagreed.
I don’t think its dead legs. Dead legs cannot be an excuse. We have to play better.

It is a very disappointing loss for the Bucks. They had recently gotten Antetokounmpo back in the lineup after he missed almost four weeks, and their four wins in five games had pulled them closer to a play-in spot in the East. They will be looking to bounce back against the San Antonio Spurs on the road on Thursday night.
