After ending a forgettable 2024 season, the New York Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, before drafting Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss with their 1st round pick.
The idea was that they would have enough firepower in the QB room to make up for the lack of a true elite quarterback manning their most important position.
Wilson started horrendously against the Washington Commanders, connecting with his receivers on just 17 of his 37 throws. The lack of connections did not allow his team to have a say in that loss.
In their second game against the Dallas Cowboys, the veteran QB rebounded in style, throwing for 450 yards and 3 touchdowns, with his overtime interception and their kicking sensation Brandon Aubrey‘s field goal giving the Cowboys a slender 3-point win.
That performance excited Giants fans, who believed the former Super Bowl-winning QB would now take the team to the next level. One game later, they were now calling for him to be replaced.
We want Dart.
Giants fans chanting inside MetLife Stadium
Those fans expressed their frustration after Russell Wilson again reverted to his Game 1 form and added 2 interceptions into the mix. Giants fans now are demanding that their rookie QB, Jaxson Dart, get the chance to take over.

Wilson’s struggles have been consistent from his time with the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, Giants fans do not want to see that continuing, and instead, want the rookie to give them some semblance of success.
Brian Daboll not surprised by fans booing
When fans were chanting for Jaxson Dart to be sent in, head coach Brian Daboll sent Russell Wilson back into the game and was greeted by boos from the Giants fans. When reporters asked the HC about that situation, he replied:

I’d be booing too, to be honest with you, in terms of not being good enough. Not scoring, not finishing, I understand that. That’s the nature of it.
Brian Daboll replied at the post-game press conference
The fourth-year head coach added that the rookie QB is progressing well, and he has confidence in him. However, he did not explain whether he would soon take over as the starter.
At the same time, Daboll understood the fans’ frustrations. His answer seems to indicate that he might not be ready to throw the young QB into the fire yet.

However, he will demand a better performance from Wilson so that he can make an informed decision. It seems his fans might continue their boos until Dart starts a game.
Chris Jones not interested in swapping jerseys with Russell Wilson
The New York Giants could have taken advantage of the Kansas City Chiefs’ mishaps from their first two games. They are struggling offensively and were not decisively better in this game.
Had Russell Wilson not thrown those interceptions, maybe his team could have had a better chance at causing an upset. Instead, those turnovers proved to be their death knell, leaving the away team to finish with a 22-9 win.
Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones‘ defense played much better than they had so far, and was holding the game ball after registering his first sack of the year. When speaking with Melissa Stark after the game, she asked Jones if he had asked Russell Wilson to swap jerseys.
I don’t even want it. It’s all good.
Chris Jones replied

His answer indicates he does not even want the Giants quarterback’s jersey anymore after asking him countless times in the past. Jones added that over time, one gets to understand why someone might not want to swap jerseys.
