The pro football world is a cruel place, and Shedeur Sanders got a taste of it on day 2 of the NFL draft when he received a prank call. Social media detectives were quick to link the prank call to Joe Schoen’s daughter, Sydney.

On Saturday, a post on Instagram accused the daughter of the New York Giants general manager of claiming she leaked Sanders’ personal phone number to her friends. It circulated in the public domain.

The suspicion grew after she liked the post accusing her of the leak. One fan commented, “Whether she did it or not—liking these comments to troll is a bad look in and of itself. If she did do it, she had no respect for her dad’s job.”

It’s difficult to prove whether Schone’s daughter leaked Sanders’ number or not. However, she is walking a tightrope.

Schone’s daughter goes to the University of Mississippi, home of the Ole Miss Rebels. On day one, the Giants passed on Sanders to select the Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart at 25th overall by trading backup (trade with the Texans) into the first round.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll has good ties with Dart through Schone’s daughter. They evaluated the Rebels’ all-time passing yards leader, a record previously held by former quarterback Eli Manning.

It started as far back as last May in terms of evaluating the quarterbacks, and Dabs and I have been through this quite a few times, and at the end of the day we’re fired up to have Jaxson Dart as part of the organization and look forward to working with him.

Dart threw a total of 10,617 yards, 72 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions with a passing efficiency of 162.8 during his time with Ole Miss.

How did Shedeur Sanders react to the Giants drafting Jaxson Dart instead of him?

Sanders’ remaining undrafted even after the 21st pick surprised many. The mood changed when the Giants traded up. Everyone thought Daboll and Schone would take the 23-year-old, but they opted for Dart instead.

Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. wasn’t too surprised by the Giants picking Dart over Sanders.

Surprised he went ahead of Shedeur, not shocked, because (coach Brian) Daboll wants mobility… The concern for me, and the reason I’m a Shedeur guy is, in a big spot, do you come up big? Three big spots [Dart] didn’t come up big, Shedeur consistently did despite being harassed.
