Giants ‘significantly interested’ in Aaron Rodgers, Insider says don’t rule out a 2025 move

The New York Giants have had discussions about signing Aaron Rodgers as their franchise quarterback even though they hold high draft pick and are tipped to take a rookie QB.

The New York Giants are increasingly becoming the likeliest destination for Aaron Rodgers. After the New York Jets cut him earlier in the year, the veteran quarterback is searching for a new home, and staying in the Big Apple might be the answer.

There was almost an opening at the Los Angeles Rams in February until Matthew Stafford decided to restructure his contract and extend his stay.

Tom Brady also inquired about Rodgers signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, but they recently traded for Geno Smith and are in the process of negotiating a contract. The Giants hold the third overall pick in the NFL draft, but according to Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com, the Giants have had internal discussions about bringing Aaron Rodgers in.

My understanding is, yes, they’ve talked about what it would take to get Aaron here with the Giants, to not leave New Jersey, and my understanding is that at every turn the Giants have yet to be scared off by the idea of Aaron Rodgers coming on some show every Tuesday.

Art Stapleton revealed during a recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show

It will not thrill any Giants fans, but a supposed ‘washed up’ Aaron Rodgers who posted 3897 yards, 28 passing touchdowns, and 11 picks is a better bridge QB option than relying on a rookie to instantly hit the ground running.

Aside from the Giants, AFC heavyweights want to sign Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers is a unique case. While most believe he is too old to continue in the NFL, he still recorded decent numbers after recovering from a torn ACL and standing behind one of the weakest offensive lines in the league. The Giants seem fixated on the 4x NFL MVP, but they aren’t the only ones.

Fox SportsRalph Vacchiano labeled Rodgers as ‘Plan A’ for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Vacchiano, in a recent article, linked the 41-year-old to the AFC North team.

A great argument can be made that a strong quarterback makes them a Super Bowl contender again. Aaron Rodgers is a real intriguing candidate. He’s a risk at age 41 and with his injury issues, but he might have one last career push in him in a better situation than he was in with the Jets. The Steelers could take a one-year bet on him knowing that the playoffs, and perhaps a deep run, could be the prize.

CBS Sports Garrett Podell also believes that Rodgers can be a good fit for the Steelers, considering the teams around them in the division; the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals have established quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow. Adding Rodgers’ experience with Mike Tomlin’s style of coaching might work well for Pittsburgh.

Some of the Steelers’ woes could be solved simply by acquiring a more capable quarterback. Even though the Jets struggled last season, Rodgers played like a top-10 quarterback in terms of passing yards and passing touchdowns as mentioned above.

Garrett Podell wrote

Whether it’s the Giants or the Steelers, Rodgers ends up with, they have to take on his 2025 salary of $2.5 million base salary. Anything beyond that has been void, and they will have to sign a new contract for the 2026 season.
