Jameis Winston was once expected to be one of the better quarterbacks in the league. He was until his interceptions started to work against him. Even though he has lost his ability to lead a team to the playoffs, he is still in demand, as he can help them find some sense of stability.

When QB needy teams lose a lot of games, they look to move forward in either of two directions. One is to land their hands on a standout quarterback in free agency who can turn their fortunes around. The likes of Aaron Rodgers were one of the names the New York Giants were looking at.

The other is to build through the draft. But that needs a standout prospect to entice them. Since the Giants are drafting at No. 3, there is a chance they might miss out on either or both of Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.

With the stakes that high, the team needs someone who can hold the fort down for the time being until they have a long-term solution. Enter Jameis Winston, who ends his search for another quarterback job in the NFL.

The Giants and QB Jameis Winston are finalizing a 2-year, $8M deal, which could be up to $16M with incentives, multiple sources tell FOX Sports: NFL.

With this move, the New York Giants essentially stabilize their most important position for the near future. If they do draft either of those QB prospects, having Winston at hand to handle any growing pains will go a long way to save the jobs of both Joe Schoen as well as Brian Daboll.

Fans lose their minds with Giants signing Jameis Winston

Football fans, though, see this as a perfect hedge move by the New York Giants. Schoen and Daboll have been at the receiving end of a lot of backlash from fans ever since they fumbled the Daniel Jones situation as well as the one concerning Saquon Barkley.

This move gives them stability even if they lose out either of the QB prospects. Fans are happy for the team but also know this is not a long-term solution. To them, the former Pro Bowler is the perfect stop gap solution. Check out examples of those social media suggestions below.

The Giants could help their situation with the No. 3 overall pick. Be it Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, either should not be a wrong pick. At the same time, if both of them are off the board, this means the Giants can draft Travis Hunter, another transformational piece.

Jameis Winston excited by job update

After last season ended, Jameis Winston spent time developing another potential career option. He started interviewing players, most notable of which was Saquon Barkley, whose manifestation now becomes a reality. Now Winston is excited that he has a job that excites him.

Start spreading the neWs.

This is an ode to the potential windfall he will receive when he lands in the Big Apple. Creating content in Cleveland, Ohio, is one thing. Doing it in New York is another. Winston knows what he will get with the New York media focusing on him.

At the same time, his alternate career plans can take off right from where he will now work. The Alabama native can probably move his family into New York, confident that he has another path he can go down in if his NFL career hits a roadblock.
