Giga Chikadze isn’t ready to accept his loss against Calvin Kattar at UFC Vegas 46
Calvin Kattar vs Giga Chikadze
UFC Vegas 46 featuring the main event fight between Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze ended in a unanimous decision win for the American who dominated the majority of the bout and didn’t let Chikadze stick to his game plan.
Kattar had sat out for an entire year before he stepped into the octagon to face one of the division’s most dangerous strikers, however, ‘The Boston Finisher’ was more than equipped and ready to take on the No. 8 ranked featherweight fighter and was relentless in his attacks as it could be seen in the gassed out Chikadze who had no answers to Kattar.
Chikadze did come out firing on all cylinders as he ate at Kattar with his kicks and punches, but there was a moment of bad luck for the Georgian when he slipped on the mat while trying to land a kick on Kattar who then took advantage of it by taking Chikadze to the ground and then grappled him for the rest of the first round. The slip seemed to have cost the match for Chikadze who was on a seven-fight win streak and was hoping this would lead to title contention.
“I already feel bad for my future opponents“- Giga Chikadze is confident about his future
Giga Chikadze was taken to the hospital immediately, and he hosted a Facebook live where he talked about the fight, he said, “I feel like if I would fight with this guy 10 times, 9 I would win. That would be the one I would lose and that was last night. It is what it is. I made mistake and I’m paying now with it. It’s all good. Guys, I’m unbreakable. Remember this sh*t, Georgians always unbreakable. This is how we fight, until the f*cking end.”
“It is what it is. It was not my day but it’s okay. Sometimes it happens, sh*t. It was a good fight. My opponent showed up good, I made mistake. I’m gonna recover a little bit, guys. I know you guys are following my journey, and this is a part of the journey. When I signed up for the sport, I knew this was a part. I f*cked up last night but it’s all good. It’s a journey. I’m learning from this and next time I’m gonna come back so much stronger. I already feel bad for my future opponents. I’m gonna learn a lot from this one, trust me on that,” said Chikadze.
