During the Paris Olympics, Stephen Curry took center stage with pivotal performances that helped the USA to a gold medal win. Those performances didn’t go unnoticed either, as basketball fans heaped praise on the Golden State Warriors star. However, despite recognizing his talent, Gilbert Arenas has stated that Devin Booker is better at scoring.
Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, the former NBA player opined that contrary to popular opinion, Stephen Curry isn’t really a scorer. Arenas then attempted to explain the difference between a scorer and a shooter.
According to him, Curry should not be put in the category of a scorer since he’s not. Arenas also argued that the right player to be mentioned in that category should be Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker. In his opinion, Booker is a natural scorer, unlike the Warriors player who is actually a shooter. He then pointed out that LeBron James is the exact kind of player that Curry is.
It's an overall thing, like Devin Booker would be considered more of a scorer than Steph, natural scorer yeah. Like Trae Young is considered more of a natural scorer than Curry... I think Steph falls in the same category like LeBron James... There's scorers that can shoot and there's shooters who can score.Gilbert Arenas said
Furthermore, Gilbert Arenas recalled a conversation he had with former NBA star Calvin Booth on the topic, during his own playing days. He said that conversation made him understand that scorers and shooters are different, but they can intersect. He went on to add that there are shooters who can do scoring and scorers who can really shoot.
Stephen Curry revealed how Devin Booker turned semifinal game around for Team USA
After Team USA won the semifinal game against Serbia at the Paris Olympics, it was Stephen Curry who stole the spotlight. This was due to his outstanding performance on the night when his teammates needed him to step up. However, Devin Booker also played a very important part in that comeback victory.
The 36-year-old has since revealed how Booker was largely responsible for the momentum shift, while they trailed by 17 points.
We had ten minutes to come back. I think when Devin Booker hit the 3 at the top of the key, that's when I felt the momentum kind of shift.Stephen Curry said in the post-game interview following win over Serbia
With the Suns player making that effort, it helped the rest of the team to rally back in time. And the rest is history, as the USA beat Serbia 95-91 to win the game. On his part, the Warriors star rose to the occasion to score 36 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:16 left on the clock.
