Gilbert Arenas gave his thoughts on Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid's three-game suspension following an altercation with a columnist.
Gilber Arenas argues against Joel Embiid's suspension
A roller coaster couple of weeks for the Philadelphia 76ers may finally be coming to an end. The Sixers have faced a litany of investigations against their organizations, especially their superstar Joel Embiid. Embiid was recently under investigation after an ugly altercation with a columnist in the Sixers locker room.
After the NBAs latest verdict on Embiid, veteran player Gilbert Arenas had some thoughts. In a recent episode of his podcast “Gils Arena,” former NBA star Arenas expressed strong opinions on the league’s decision to suspend Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid without pay for three games.
The suspension followed an altercation with a columnist. The NBA moved swiftly to penalize Embiid for what they deemed inappropriate conduct. But Arenas thinks the punishment is excessive.

Arenas didn’t hold back, framing the issue as an unnecessary conflict between the interests of NBA teams and the NBA itself. He stated that the Philadelphia 76ers should have preemptively taken action against Joel Embiid to ensure that the NBA does not punish their superstar.
The added suspension by the NBA continues to keep Embiid away from the hardwood. He has not seen NBA action so far this season, even after the return of Paul George to the Sixers. Thankfully, the suspension handed down by the NBA will only keep the former MVP out slightly longer.
Sixers announce season debut of Joel Embiid
After a knee injury rehab and a recent three-game suspension handed down by the NBA, Joel Embiid is finally set to make his highly anticipated return on November 12. He returns just in time for the Philadelphia 76ers’ NBA Cup campaign opener against the New York Knicks.
Fans have been waiting to see the All-Star center back in action, and this debut brings hope and excitement for the season ahead. The 76ers announced that Joel Embiid has already begun ramping up for his season debut.
The Sixers currently sit near the bottom of the Eastern Conference with just a 1-5 record. They recently brought Paul George back to the squad after his own injury concerns. However, the team’s misfortunes have continued to pile on, with George’s play sticking out like a sore thumb.
The 76ers’ November 12 matchup against the Knicks will also be a rematch of the first-round series last season, which saw the Knicks knock out Embiid and the Sixers.
