“One party night away from being grandpa!” – Gilbert Arenas jokes about LeBron James becoming a grandfather soon

Gilbert Arenas and LeBron James

Known for his bold and sharp takes, former NBA player Gilbert Arenas is at it again and this time he playfully threw a jab at Los Angeles Lakers superstar, LeBron James. The joke came during a recent segment on his show, “Gil’s Arena,” where he mentioned that James would soon become a grandfather.

The joke from Agent Zero was born out of the fact that LeBron James, at 39 years old and still active in the league, would get the opportunity to play alongside his eldest son, Bronny, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers. And according to Arenas, there’s a good chance he might end up with a grandson while also playing actively.

He is one party night away from being grandpa. Like, he's one road trip in Miami, he goes to sleep too early, 'Hey, Pops, you’ve got a grandson.'

Asides Gilbert Arenas trolling the four-time NBA champ, he was also a victim of a Kevin Hart roast in a Draft King commercial, also due his age. King James’ longevity has been admired and praised as he would create a record, besides teaming up with his son, of being the first player to play in his 22nd season in the league.

Furthermore, while this might be the last season fans get to see arguably the best player in the league step on a basketball court, he has a lot to prove this season, such as help the Lakers do better than in the play-in spots. He would need to end his career with a bang and that starts as they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Crypto.com Arena for their first game of the new season.

Michael Redd praises LeBron James’ enduring legacy

Joining the thousands of admirers of LeBron James, former NBA All-Star Michael Redd took to LinkedIn to admire his impact, legacy and longevity in the field of basketball and business. He was impressed as James took part in his fourth Olympic Games and was actively involved till the very end.

It's hard to comprehend LeBron's longevity. LeBron James played in the Olympics in 2004, in 2008, in 2012, and he is playing now, in 2024… LeBron hasn't witnessed the shift in generations — in basketball and in business — he has lived it. What LeBron has accomplished, as far as sheer longevity, far as years of dominance, though, has not been matched in basketball…and never will.
Michael Redd wrote

LeBron James has consistently defied Father Time and added a new milestone when he led Team USA to his fourth Olympic medal. An unprecedented achievement from a once in a generation talent.

In his 21 seasons as a professional, he has averaged 27.1 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and 7.4 APG. It would be nice to witness how well he would fare this season or if new Lakers head coach JJ Redick would preserve him for important games.
