NBA veterans smell trouble for Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Bucks in upcoming season
Gilbert Arenas and his crew expressed their growing concerns for the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Gilbert Arenas thinks Antetokounmpo is up for a rough season.
The Milwaukee Bucks are off to a grim start after conceding two straight games following opening night. With a crushing 115-102 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets, the Bucks are now down to a 1-2 record for the season. The early struggle led Gilbert Arenas and his talking heads to show concern for the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Bucks.
The Bucks started the season opener strong when they took down the Philadelphia 76ers in a blowout. However, the absence of Joel Embiid and Paul George might turn out to be the cause. With Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard failing to form any connection, the ‘Gil’s Arena Show’ crew weighted in with their opinions.
Former Bucks player Kenyon Martin Sr. also chimed in his opinion. He criticized the Bucks’s coaching staff for the predictability of their offensive executions. He might be right, given the Bucks have not experienced any real successful stretch of games ever since they acquired Lillard from the Portland Trailblazers.
“Everything end of game has went through [Giannis].”

Arenas had also previously pointed out that the front office’s failure to retain Thanasis Antetokounmpo can spark growing pains. Although both Lillard and Antetokounmpo produced good offensive results individually, their lack of chemistry raises concerns. As of now, Lillard is totaling 26.3 points and six assists per outing, while Antetokounmpo is averaging an impressive 28.3 points along with 12.3 boards per game.
Milwaukee Bucks coaching staff raises eyebrows with two consecutive loss
Earlier this year, the Milwaukee Bucks fired their first-year head coach Adrian Griffin. The move surprised many as Griffin led the Bucks to the second spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Following Griffin’s exit, former Sixers head coach, Doc Rivers, took the mantle to manage Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks.
At the time, the management justified their actions for Griffin’s inability to mesh with the players. However, the team under Rivers failed to coincide with the front office’s vision. For context, the team had an 18-21 win-loss record with Rivers at the helm, all while they were 32-14 before he took over in January.

The situation brought more controversies into the mix when freshly fired Darvin Ham joined the coaching lineup. With the team en route to a tough schedule ahead, Ham and Rivers will have to work something out. The Bucks are slated to face three teams in four days with the Boston Celtics as their first matchup.
