‘Brutal’ Gilbert Arenas throws shade at Jayson Tatum and Celtics’ championship win over Mavs
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas takes a swipe at the Boston Celtics and their star Jayson Tatum on the OGs Show podcast.
Jayson Tatum won the NBA championship because of having a better team believes Gilbert Arenas
The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals, and aside from Game 3 and the Celtics’ bizarre blowout loss in Game 4, the series was not especially thrilling. The Celtics were clearly the superior team, cruising to victory in five games. Recently, former NBA player Gilbert Arenas opened up on the OGs podcast, discussing the 2024 NBA Finals and Celtics star Jayson Tatum.
The former NBA point guard shared his honest opinion on the 2024 Finals. According to Arenas, the Celtics won simply because they were the superior team, not because they performed exceptionally well against the Mavericks. Arenas also mentioned that Celtics’ star Jayson Tatum “frustrated the hell out of him” while watching the NBA Finals.
[Celtics] were the better team, hands down, Did they play championship basketball? No. They had an advantage. You're talking about they were bigger than Dallas, Dallas didn't play the defense that could have stopped them. They spent 90% of the time just chucking threes. Tatum is my dude but he was frustrating the sh*t out of me.Gilbert Arenas said
Prior to their 18th NBA championship, the Celtics had a lengthy history of disappointment. Despite having stars like Tatum and Brown, the team often squandered championship opportunities. They were eliminated from the Conference Finals in 2023 after losing the first three games to the Heat.
However, this time, they ensured victory by securing the coveted 2024 NBA title. Additionally, any criticism and hate did not bother the Celtics or their players, as revealed by their star player Tatum before the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Jayson Tatum silences out the noise after NBA title win
Jayson Tatum has proven himself to be one of the Boston Celtics’ most dependable players in the NBA. Tatum’s perseverance was rewarded when the Celtics won the 2024 NBA title, giving Tatum his first NBA title in his career. Tatum told ESPN that his championship triumph puts an “end” to the fuss and noise surrounding him.
There's still a lot of things I guess they can debate. But now I've done something that they can't debate: I've won a championship. Having that under my belt, like obviously it's still conversations to be had or whatever people want to say, but they always got to refer to me as an NBA champion.Jayson Tatum said
2024 has indeed been a blessing for Tatum, as he also secured a Gold medal with Team USA at the Paris Olympics. Additionally, Tatum became the most recent player to win an NBA title, an Olympic Gold medal, and make the NBA All-Star team all in the same season. It will be interesting to see what unfolds next in Tatum’s basketball career in the coming years.
