Former Australian player Brad Hogg spoke high of India’s opener Shubman Gill. Gill played some defining innings and gave management-selectors immense confidence as an opener.

“He has got all the shots in the book. The thing that impressed me here in Australia was that when the Australians tested him with the short ball, he was prepared to take on the hook shot,” Hogg said on his YouTube channel.

“He is going to be a little bit of a legend and he is going to be one of the best openers that the world sees over the next 10 years in Test cricket,” said Hogg.

The youngster from Punjab made his debut in the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne and showed some riveting stuff. Besides, he shone bright in the decider Test in Brisbane where he smashed 91 runs.

The 21-year-old played his debut series against Australia and emerged as the leading run-scorer. He scored 259 runs in six innings at an average of 51.80.
