Jorge Masvidal speaks his mind on the recent Lia Thomas controversy. Lia is a transgender woman who used to compete in men’s events before her transformation. She recently won the Ivy League championship 2022, and her standing on the top of the podium sparked a conversation among the sports enthusiast.
There’s been an ongoing debate between trans women participating in such events. Many claim it violates the mere idea of fair play, and Lia has been the cover face of this debate in recent memory. Many Republican states banned trans athletes from competing in women’s events, and just last week, Missouri’s Republican Senate Candidate taunted her on her victory saying, “Women’s sports are for women, not men pretending to be women,” a transphobic trope belittling trans women.”
MMA superstar Jorge Masvidal talked about Thomas’ situation in his recent interview, he believes it’s not fair for straight athletes to compete under such conditions, he said, “It’s such a no-brainer right? It’s not fair. It’s just not. Men should compete against men. If you don’t want to compete against men, it’s not fair to go and compete against women… I’m not trying to diss girls but it’s just different you know. Girls should compete against girls.”

Another trans athlete who received criticism was Fallon Fox. The mixed martial artist received some heavy feedback from Joe Rogan, he said, “She calls herself a woman but… I tend to disagree. And, uh, she, um… she used to be a man but now she has had, she’s a transgender which is (the) official term that means you’ve gone through it, right? And she wants to be able to fight women in MMA. I say no f***ing way.”
He added, “I say if you had a dick at one point in time, you also have all the bone structure that comes with having a dick. You have bigger hands, you have bigger shoulder joints. You’re a f***ing man. That’s a man, OK? You can’t have… that’s… I don’t care if you don’t have a dick any more.”
