Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir’s sudden retirement from international cricket, citing ‘mental torture’ shocked the entire cricket fraternity. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed this news, hours after Amir gave his statement, alleging them. 

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar also reacted to Amir’s retirement. He took on social media to express his disappointment on this decision made by the 28-year old. Akhtar also offered his help to bring the talented left-arm pacer’s career back on track in the international arena.

“Give Mohammad Amir under me and then see the wonders he does on the ground. Na zaaya kerain us ko (Don’t waste him),” Shoaib Akhtar tweed on Thursday.

Another former Pakistan cricketer turned commentator Ramiz Raja said it was a sad exit of a ‘potential super star’.

“Mohammad Amir retires. Sad untimely exit of a potential super star! And a lesson for aspiring youth: Respect your talent and understand your responsibilities. Don’t mistake wealth for respect. Respect is earned by having a strong character and not by worldly glitzy shit!” Raja tweeted.

Amir has no desires or intentions of playing international cricket: PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board also reacted on Amir’s retirement after the southpaw revealed this on Samaa TV. Wasim Khan, Chief Executive of PCB talked to Amir before releasing their official statement in the media. 

“He has no desires or intentions of playing international cricket and as such, he should not be considered for future international matches,” the PCB said in a statement.

“This is a personal decision of Mohammad Amir, which the PCB respects, and as such, will not make any further comment on this matter at this stage.”
