Glenn Hoddle labels Timo Werner as the best summer buy for Chelsea

Chelsea Football club invested heavily in this year’s summer transfer window and brought in a wealth of players. Now with all of them clicking in well together , Lampard’s men are running riots.

However the question remains- which signing was the best of the lot? Glen Hoddle remains adamant that the German international Werner is the best signing.

Glenn Hoddle believes Werner has huge potential

Timo Werner ,ade the switch to Chelsea from RB Leipzig earlier this summer for a deal worth around $50 million. He was the second in the list of a long number of signings.

Hakim Ziyech was the first one to be snatched up by Chelsea as the Moroccan international came from AFC Ajax.

Speaking with the Evening Sport, Glen Hoddle said –

It is a tough one. Edouard Mendy could be very important, but by the end of the season I think we will look back and think Timo Werner will be the one.

“He can play down the middle, he can play left and he could have had three or four goals against Leeds on Saturday [in a 3-1 win for Chelsea].

He also spoke about Hakim Ziyech and said there will be matches where the wizard will be absolutely brilliant. However he also added that on occasions he may vanish.

Kai Havertz has got to show more. There is more to come from him, do not get me wrong, he is a very good player.

But I would go for Werner, I think we will look back and think he was a very good buy.”

Chelsea will be facing Krasnodar in the UEFA Champions League next on Tuesday as they have already qualified for the knockout stage. Frank Lampard will be faced with the tough question of starting Timo Werner or Olivier Giroud.
