Punjab Kings spinner and Indian cricket star Yuzvendra Chahal showed off the bat that he received from Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, before being brutally trolled by his PBKS teammates. PBKS batters Glenn Maxwell and Priyansh Arya poked fun at the 34-year-old spinner.

The hilarious incident occurred ahead of a crucial IPL encounter between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings, at Chepauk, which CSK eventually lost. Bottom-placed CSK, enduring their worst IPL campaign this summer, have won just two out of the ten matches they have played this season.

PBKS spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, during the team’s training session at Chepauk, was able to get his hands on one of MS Dhoni’s bats. The 34-year-old shares a great bond with the former India captain, and even made his debut back in 2016 under Dhoni’s leadership. A video shared by PBKS on social media depicted Chahal making an return to his team’s dressing room, while swinging the bat in confidence.

As he showed off the ‘gift’ to his teammates, he was questioned by Glenn Maxwell whether the bat belonged to MS Dhoni. After the spinner’s confirmation, the Australian all-rounder quickly asked Chahal what he planned to do with the bat, to which he replied that he would bat with it during the upcoming matches, while practising some shadow batting shots.

Maxwell hilariously gave a harsh reality check to the 34-year-old leg spinner by reminding him that he is usually subbed out during matches, and that he only plays as an impact substitute, leaving Chahal red-faced. The banter did not stop there, with youngster and IPL prodigy Priyansh Arya quickly walking up to Yuzvendra Chahal, as he prepared to put the bat in his kit bag.

What are you going to do with it… You get subbed out in every game.

Arya chirped in with a joke of his own by stating that the veteran spinner’s prized possession would be taken away from him for sure, by a ‘kid’ from Haryana. Surely, Arya was referring to himself while talking about the ‘kid’, being born in Fatehabad, Haryana. The 24-year-old opener had earlier expressed his desire to catch up with MS Dhoni, a player whom he idolizes, after having scored a 39-ball 100 against CSK.

Some kid in Haryana is going to take this bat for sure.

Nonetheless, keeping aside the playful banter between the PBKS players, their match against CSK is of utmost importance. The Shreyas Iyer-led side, who have only made it to the IPL final once, back in 2014, will be hoping to script history this season.
