Second baseman Gleyber Torres and the New York Yankees’ divorce might be finalized as Torres deletes all his links to the Yankees on social media platforms. The buzz started with unfollowing the pinstripes from his Instagram account, followed by other social media links.

Fans started speculating whether it meant both of them were finally moving on from one another, or it was just another social media clean-up process. Seems like the first one got the most fan votes as many huddled up on Gleyber Torres’ posts to wish him all the best for his next journey.

Even Torres himself stated that he’s happy where he’s now as he’s got a clean slate to work on. Furthermore, he thanked the Yankees for all the precious moments since 2018. He has been an integral part of the team, but his wobbly performance made everyone think twice.

When asked about his chances of returning to the New York Yankees, Torres said, “I don’t have a number.” It’s something his agent is handling and he is now more than happy to spend time with his family and himself at the beach.

I’m literally waiting for the call every day. … Everything is going to a different player in a different market. I’m just waiting right now…I think I’m in a good spot. I’m enjoying my vacation. I was at the beach a couple of days ago and now I’m here to help with a really good event. I’m looking forward to the future.

He further added how sad it is to leave the organization after being part of it for a long time, but at the end of the day “It’s a business.” “I can only control what I can control,” he said.

While some were shocked and sad to hear of his departure, many expected this outcome. While he did perform excellently in some plays during the World Series, his overall record did not impress much. Now with the 2nd base empty, the NY Yankees may add Jazz Chisholm Jr. there and bring in another to fill the 3rd baseman spot.

In last week’s GM meeting, Brian Cashman thanked Gleyber Torres for his services over the years and hoped the best for him. However, he also boldly pointed out the flaws in Torres, saying, “I’m not gonna dissect what he’s good at and not as good at.”

One X user noted, “Thanks Gleyber but it’s time move on. Good luck!” Another added, “Thanks I HATE IT.” Check out more fan reactions below:

Although his career had its ups and downs, Torres recorded 138 homeruns and 441 RBIs during the seven seasons with the Yankees. Torres said “I’m always available” to be with a team and support them to win games. It seems both are ready to part ways and start their own journey.
