‘So close, yet so far’: Indian golfer Aditi Ashok finishes at 4th place, misses the Bronze medal by a whisker

At the Tokyo Olympics, we have seen many such incredible performances by sports stars from different parts of the world. Especially the Indian athletes have done incredibly well this time around.
The Indians have made their presence felt in sports which weren’t considered their strong point. One such sport is golf where Aditi Ashok has made India proud. The ace golfer finished second in the qualifying round after a fantastic performance.
Aditi Ashok: A champion in the making

Aditi started off steadily in the finals as well, however, a few close shaves here and there proved to be the difference in the game and Aditi ended up finishing 4th in the ultimate tournament. Aditi was seemingly disappointed after missing the Bronze medal by a whisker.
However, it has to be said that she achieved what no one even imagined. Aditi’s performance gave a mighty scare to even the best female golfers who were competing against her. In order to understand how much Aditi has improved, one must know that the Indian golfer finished at the 41st spot in the Rio Olympics.
This time around, Aditi was in the top 3 for most parts of the contest but a few hits and misses pushed her out of the medal contention. However, what she has achieved is something that no other Indian golfer has done in the past. Born on 29th March, 1998, Aditi started playing golf when she was just 5 years old.
Aditi gives a lot of her credit for her success to her father Ashok who was also her caddie in the Rio 2016 Olympics. Aditi was awarded LET Rookie of the year in 2016 which established her on the global platform. One has to say that her heroics at the Olympics will inspire innumerable youngsters to take up golf.
