Tiger Woods, one of the greatest athletes of all time, is yet again set to display his magic on the course at the ongoing Masters tournament. The ace American golfer, who has not competed in any professional event since sustaining serious leg injuries during a car crash, will make his comeback at Augusta National.

The 15-time major champion, who’s also the current richest sportsperson, has done a lot for the sport which is arguably more than anyone else. Meanwhile, former NFL scout turned media man John Middlekauff talked about Woods’ contribution to golf during The Volume Sports podcast.

“The buzz and anticipation for this Masters has a chance to be the biggest of all time. For me, Tiger Woods playing in this Masters is infinitely bigger than the one he won. The outcome of him winning that Masters was probably bigger if he doesn’t win this Masters.

He does not move the needle, he’s the needle. He’s bigger than the sport. LeBron James can’t say that, Tom Brady can’t say that, Lewis Hamilton can’t say that, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams can’t say that,” he said.

“Golfers under 40 years should thank Tiger Woods”

Middlekauff further went on to reckon that all the current golfers who are less than 40 years of age, should write a personal thank you letter to the California native Woods. Notably, he said this for the amount of money and fame that has increased in golf over the years since Tiger took the sport by storm.

“Any guy under 40 should write Tiger Woods a personal thank you note this week and leave it in his locker. And should include things like thank you for making me one per cent of the one-percenters, thanks for making me rich, thanks for sending my children to private school, and thanks for making me a multi-millionaire playing golf,” John added.
