“I got off to a hot start”: Im Sung-Jae leads the Masters after spectacular first day; Tiger Woods currently four back
Im Sung-Jae
The Augusta National 2022 Masters got off to a much anticipated start, as Tiger Woods made his comeback after over a year of sitting out. It was however 24-year-old Im Sung-Jae that led after the end of the first day, after having a great start.
Sung-Jae scored a 67 and was 5 under par to lead the first round that took place on 7th April in Augusta Georgia. Australian golfer Cameron Smith is a close second at 68. Four players – Americans Scottie Scheffler and Dustin Johnson, England’s Danny Willett and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann are tied at third with a 69.
“I think the key to my good round today was getting off to a hot start. I birdied the first three holes and I got into a rhythm,” Im said, to olympics.com.
Tiger Woods makes comeback as Im Sung-Jae leads; currently sits in tenth place
After making an iconic comeback at the Masters, Woods knew that it would definitely be no easy task to keep up with the frontrunners. Woods is currently sitting tied at 10th place, after shooting a 71. It is quite the impressive comeback for Woods, who met with a near fatal accident that caused him to stop playing.
“If you would have seen how my leg looked to where it’s at now. To see where I’ve been, to see — to get from there to here. It was no easy task,” said Woods.
