Patrick Cantlay took a fantastic win at the 2022 BMW Championship to successfully defend his title from last year. The event held at the Wilmington Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware was historic for the golfer as he became the first golfer in the FedEx Cup Playoffs to defend the playoff title event.

The win has also put him in 2nd place in the Cup Standings ahead of Tour Championship next week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Scottie Scheffler, currently world no.1, also holds the top spot in the FedEx Cup Standing. The East Lake Golf Club will be the ultimate tournament of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. However, the BMW Championships were just as exciting, and the prize money was even better.

Cantlay entered the final round of the tournament with just a one stroke lead over his good friend Xander Schauffele and Scott Stallings- making the title a tough fight. Cantlay found himself in a share of the lead on the 17th tee as he dodged several bullets with Stallings when the latter failed to convert many birdie opportunities.

The prize money for the 2022 BMW Championships was huge amounts to say the least. Cantlay not only took home the prize and trophy, but also a hefty payout of $2.7 million. Scott Stallings, who finished 13 under par, took home $1.62 million for his second place finish. Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele rounded off the top 3 with an 11 under par and a prize money amount of $870,000 each.
