2022 Tour Championship

The 2022 Tour Championships brought about the end of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, with Rory McIlroy making history on Sunday at East Lake. McIlroy became the first golfer to win 3 FedEx Cups, as he came up with an incredible performance to take a win at the Tour Championship.

McIlroy came up from behind Scottie Scheffler and Sungjae Im to secure his win in Atlanta. Rory shot a 5-under 65 in the final round and finished at 21 under, beating Scheffler and Im by one shot. The more impressive part about the win was that McIlroy started with a triple bogey on his very first hole.

Scheffler held a majority of the lead with for the first 69 holes of the game but a bogey on the par-4 16th dropped him out of the lead for the first time. This, coupled with his inability to make a bogey in the last rounds, meant that he was out of the running to possibly take the title.

Nevertheless, both the golfers are going home with big cheques in their pockets. Rory is set to take the biggest chunk of the 2022 Tour Championship payout, with a whopping win of $18,000,000. Scottie Scheffler and Sungjae Im who finished in second place took place $5,750,000 each.
