At the moment there seems no stopping of golf players leaving the PGA Tour and joining LIV Golf. The recent one is the Polish professional golfer, Adrian Meronk, a rising star in the golf world.

The European golfer stunned the golf world when he agreed to join the LIV Golf. He has now opened up about his decision and revealed how the snub from the 2023 Ryder Cup squad played a factor in it.

Meronk had taken the European circuit in 2023 and seemed as one of the favorites to join the European team. However, the rise of Ludvig Aberg saw the Poland international get snubbed by captain Luke Donald.

Following this, Meronk quickly turned his attention to his game of golf. He would go on to clinched the Andalucía Masters in October and dispelled the questions about his elite status in Europe.

Adrian Meronk: A talent yet to be recognized

Born in Hamburg, Germany in 1993, Adrian Meronk’s golfing journey began at a very young age. By the time he was 16, his talent had already made him the talk of the town which soon caught the eye of his Welsh coach Matthew Tipper. Going by his coach’s guidance, Meronk pursued a golf scholarship at East Tennessee State University in the United States.

Meronk became professional in 2016 and embarked on a steady rise through the ranks. He secured his European Tour card in 2019, but it was 2022 that marked his magnificent rise.

In July 2022, he won the Horizon Irish Open to become the first Pole to win on the European Tour. Later h would clinched his second European Tour title just months later at the ISPS Handa Australian Open. This performance showed his class as he classic defeated seasoned campaigner Adam Scott by five shots.

In May 2023, Meronk clinched the Italian Open at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, the same venue where the Ryder Cup took place. This victory made many imagine that he would soon be part of the squad, but destiny had other ideas.

Now the golfer finds himself on the LIV Golf circuit where he plays for Cleeks GC. In the latest LIV Golf Vegas event, he finished tied for ninth spot while being 7-under. It will now be interesting to see how he performs in the upcoming tournaments which could also answer whether his decision to join the breakaway tour was right or wrong.
