India’s No.1 golfer Anirban Lahiri finished an impressive tied-10th in the recently concluded LIV Golf Invitational series in Jeddah with a final round of 69. At the Royal Greens Par-70 course, the 36-year-old Indian shot rounds of 67-66-69 to conclude a solid week.

This was Anirban’s fourth appearance with the controversial league since it made its debut earlier this year. He finished runner-up at Boston, 23rd in Chicago, and 41st in Bangkok on the previous three occasions of the LIV Series. Eventually, Brooks Koepka edged Peter Uihlein to win the inaugural event.

Just like other golfers who have switched their loyalties to LIV Golf from PGA Tour, Lahiri also faced consequences. The 35-year-old has a list of impressive sponsors who were with him for a long time but his decision of joining the Saudi-backed league did not go well with them as well.

Earlier this month when he was asked about his two major sponsors parting ways with him, the Indian golfer said, “I am very grateful for the support I have received over the years from both Hero and Mastercard. Any corporate that supports golf should be celebrated. That’s all I want to say.”

One of the most decorated Indian golfers – Lahiri signed LIV for around $7 million but since then Mastercard and Hero Motocorp had ended their association with the Indian golfer. The Indian golfer has been with PGA Tour since 2016 before choosing the rebel league earlier this year.

However, since joining LIV Golf – he has earned more than a decent sum as prize money. He announced himself on the LIV circuit in some style as he finished second in the Boston Invitational bringing him a paycheck of $1.5 million.
