Anirban Lahiri joins LIV Golf
The LIV Golf Series has caused quite the bit of controversy since its inception. However, the series is also making quite the impact in the golf world, as its existence has become undeniable over the last few months. The Series is now just adding to its line up, as more and more golfers decide to make the switch from the PGA Tour.
The biggest blow comes from the latest six signings- which includes World no. 2 and Open Champion Cameron Smith. Along with him, Harold Varner III and Joaquin Niemann are also names that are rather damaging. An interesting addition to the mix however is World no. 92 and Indian Golfer Anirban Lahiri, who was the runner-up at the Players Championship in March.
Coming from India, of course cricket is deep rooted in Lahiri. When he was talking about joining the LIV Series, he compared it to the IPL, a T20 cricket series that is popular amongst the entire world.

“I look at the Indian Premier League and T20. When it started, I remember the almost vehement opposition it received,” Lahiri said recently according to Sports NDTV. “But it had the potential of changing the way we consumed cricket.”
“Look at it now. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is laughing all the way to the bank and so are the players. The broadcasters are delighted because they get off-the-chart ratings,” he said. “LIV can be the IPL of golf,” the 35-year-old said. Lahiri is all set to make his debut at the 4th LIV Golf event in Boston.
