Anthony Kim’s professional return at LIV Golf Jeddah witnesses the golfer taking the last spot at +16. Despite putting his best performance on the field, the golfer failed to shake off his 12-year rust following his 2012 exit due to injury. This was his first LIV Golf event since he played professionally.
Kim finished 16-over par at Saudi Arabia, 32 strokes behind the event winner Joaquin Niemann. From the event’s $25 million prize purse, Kim took $50,000 due to LIV Golf’s no-cut rule, while the winner bagged $4 million. The former 3x PGA Tour winner posted a 4-over round, better than his Friday and Saturday performance of 7-over rounds.

Fans have been hyped up to see Kim on the field but his first LIV Golf start took a brutal turn. He himself noted that it was “a rough week” but he is excited to be able to play golf again.
I’m more encouraged after playing this tournament and playing like a**, really…I’m excited about what’s coming.Anthony Kim as per SBNation.
Kim is happy that his “game is starting to shape up” and it may be a slow progress now, but he is sure to make it better in the upcoming LIV Golf events. Greg Norman is also hopeful and confident that the former top 10 players in the world will shape up in due time.
Greg Norman states he believes in Anthony Kim despite golfer’s poor performance in Jeddah
PGA Tour’s former rising star, Anthony Kim, who once drew comparisons with GOAT Tiger Woods delivered a hugely underwhelming performance at Royal Greens in Jeddah. Despite his poor performance, LIV Golf, CEO Greg Norman stated that he believes Kim can turn around and make his game better for the upcoming events.

Norman stated that it’ll take some time for Kim to “get into any kind of comfort zone.” He stated that it would be “unreasonable” to expect Kim to deliver a high-ending performance after a 12-year hiatus. The golfer also stated that is happy with his current improvement and is looking forward to the next event. For 2024, he is exempt from any group plays and will perform individually to secure his professional return.
Anthony Kim’s last performance was in 2012 in the Wells Fargo Championship. The 3x PGA Tour winner was forced to withdraw following an injury in the first round. He underwent surgery the following month for a ruptured Achilles and made his debut once again in the 2024 LIV Golf event.
In 2014, rumors surrounded that the golfer had stopped playing altogether, making it one of the mysteries. Regardless, with a number of events scheduled by LIV for the rest of 2024, Kim is pleased to play on the greens. He thanked Norman and Yasir Al-Rumayyan for giving him the opportunity to play at LIV.
