Twitter reacts as Billy Horschel takes matters into his own hands

Billy Horschel was among several key names who struggled to keep up at the Open Championship. Despite his best efforts he was unable to make the cut and missed the ticket for the final two rounds. His action at the 17th hole on Friday though has gone viral as fans have applauded him for this.

This is however not the first time these protests have taken place in marquee UK events. Similar incidents were recorded during the Ashes series and the Wimbledon as activists marched on to raise their voices. Golf Twitter was full of appreciation for Horschel. Here are a few reactions from the site regarding his strange incident at Royal Liverpool on Friday.

While one would suggest that Horschel had no business going in there, he was probably frustrated by his performance. This year has not been a good one for him in the majors. He missed the cut at the PGA Championship and finished with T-43 and 52 finish at the US open and Masters respectively. Horschel managed to fire a score of 148. This score meant he had now missed the cut at the Open for the sixth time in nine career appearances.
