“It’s unrepeatable,” Open leader Brian Harman ADMITS receiving constant heckles from spectators during Round 3 at Hoylake
Brian Harman continued his dominating performance in round three to take a five-stroke lead into the final day despite being constantly heckled by the crowd at Hoylake.

The Open Championship continues to provide sheer excitement for the fans. After two days of action-packed stuff, the event moved to Saturday. While the third round saw some great revivals in the form of Jon Rahm, current leader Brian Harman maintained his lead. The American did struggle at the start but managed to compose himself despite the constant heckling from the crowd.
The 36-year-old was dominating in the first two rounds. By the end of Round 2, he had established a five-stroke lead over then-second-placed Tommy Fleetwood. He, though, looked in danger of slipping up as he made two bogeys on the first four holes. Harman did recover from this early setback and regain the momentum he had gathered over the two days.
“I’d be lying if I didn’t hear some things that weren’t super nice today towards me,” Harman said. He explained how he hears them all the time but does not allow them to influence him at the same time. “It’s unrepeatable,” he said when asked about the comments made by the crowd. The reports of heckling were also made by Rickie Fowler.
Fowler mentioned how he was labeled as a coward by a spectator for his decision to leave from investing in Leeds United. Several heckling was always recorded with LIV stars Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson at the US Open. A reason for heckling at Harman could be his lead over hometown hero Fleetwood at the time of his tee.
Brian Harman hoping to finally get hands on first major title
The obvious dream of every professional player is to win championships and titles. Winning tour events is already a big thing, but claiming one of the majors is something every golfer aspires to. Brian Harman, like many other players, wants to claim his first major. He had a heartbreaking moment in the 2017 US Open, when he blew up a three-shot lead over Brooks Koepka.
This is the closest Harman has ever come to winning a major. On Sunday, he will have the chance to end this barren run. “I’ve thought about winning majors for my entire life. It’s the whole reason I work as hard as I do,” Harman mentioned. His five-stroke lead also brings history to his side. Over the last 40 years, eight players have entered the majors with a five-shot lead after two rounds. All of them went on to win.
Harman will now have to overcome 18 holes to etch his name in history. While he is leading with a five-stroke, he has to be aware of his chasers. Cameron Young and Jon Rahm are both hot on their heels. A few up and there could see the pendulum swing away from him. If he does manage to hold on, he will walk away with the claret jug and a $3 million prize.
