“He’s not afraid to think outside the box”: Bryson DeChambeau an ‘exciting addition’ to LIV Golf Series
Bryson DeChambeau
The ongoing Saudi backed LIV Golf Series has caused quite the controversy among the golfing world. As several golfers are making the shift to the LIV series, it has already begun at the Centurion Club just outside London. Among the golfers joining the series include Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Kevin Na, Ian Poulter and Patrick Reed, just to name a few.
Adding to this list is Bryson DeChambeau, who announced his addition to the series a day after the PGA warned about the disciplinary actions that defectors would face. His first appearance is set to be on 30th June, in the second round of the series at Portland Oregon.

Chief Executive Greg Norman called DeChambeau an exciting addition to the series because he is “passionate and innovative in his approach and committed to pushing the boundaries”. “He’s not afraid to think outside the box and supports our mission of doing things differently to grow our game,” continued Norman to bbc.com. This however means that he too will face disciplinary action from the PGA Tour.
It has been reported that the golfer has been paid $100 million by the Saudi backed series to attend. DeChambeau however is alright at the moment because of his US Open victory, which earned him a 10-year exemption for that event. He also has a five-year exemptions for the Open Championship, Masters and US PGA Championship.
