The recent announcement of the LIV Golf Series has got caught up in quite the stir of controversy, as the Saudi backed golf series has attracted the attention of many. Among these golfers include Phil Mickelson, Ian Poulter, Dustin Johnson and Kevin Na to name a few.
The list now also adds the names of Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed, who are all set to join the LIV Series. With reports of their joining booming, the event is all set to start next week at the Centurion Club, just outside of London.
Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau reportedly paid large amount for attending LIV Series
It has been the case that several other golfers have been give large amounts of money, between $100 to $200 million to play at the LIV Series. It is no different for the duo, with DeChambeau reportedly being paid over $100 million to play at the series. The Tournament is also all set to have a $25 million purse as prize money.
The PGA Tour has threatened disciplinary action for any golfer who changes to the LIV Series. However, golfers have found support with Greg Norman who has aligned with the tour and has promised to back all the golfers that make the switch from the PGA Tour to the LIV Series.
