The newly inaugurated Saudi backed LIV Golf series has caused quite the controversy in the golf world, as tensions sore high amongst pro golfers. As the PGA Tour and the LIV Series leaves a split in the system, many golfers- current and retired- have a lot to say about their own. Defectors to the LIV Series have been severely reprimanded, banned from the PGA Tour and discouraged from participating in the Saudi backed tour any further- particularly because of its ties to a devious organisation.

However, some golfers have stood up for the LIV Series. Amongst these is Bryson DeChambeau- who wants the world to see the ‘good’ that the Saudis are doing. DeChambeau added that he wanted people to move on from issues such as the Khashoggi’s killing in a press conference on Tuesday.

“Golf is a force for good,” DeChambeau said when he was asked about criticism for taking Saudi money. “As time goes on, hopefully people will see the good they’re doing. And what they’re trying to accomplish, rather than looking back at the bad that’s happened before,” he said according to the Guardian.

“And moving on from that is important. And continuing to move forward in a positive light is something that could be a force for good for the future of the game,” he added. DeChambeau’s deal with LIV Series is said to be more than $100 million. He called his choice to move to the LIV Series a ‘personal business decision’.
