PGA Tour- Caddies are like right-hand men for successful golfers. It’s not just about carrying the kits and the clubs, but providing support in terms of advice at the most critical of junctures, just when the golfer needs it for a make-or-break result.

Therefore, when a caddie collapsed and died during the Dev Series Final in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico in the October of 2021, it was a tragic moment for the local golfing community. Alberto Olguín, caddying for Venezuelan pro Manuel Torres, “collapsed on the ninth tee at approximately 3 p.m. CDT,” according to a statement then from the PGA Tour.

Despite CPR efforts from emergency medical teams and a prompt transportation to the nearest hospital care, Olguín “was pronounced dead at 3:57 p.m.”

Incidentally, no cause of death or immediate co-morbidities were revealed. The PGA Tour even formally honored Olguin later that same week.

LIV Golf Circuit has been in the headline for multiple reasons both good and bad at same time. However, the LIV treatment for the caddies has been praised at numerous events. This time an undercover caddie decoded it for all, how LIV Golf has managed to be in the good books.

PGA tour versus LIV Golf always tops the list whenever we talk about golf. However, not always do they form a part of direct competition. It’s ironic that the PGA tour was sued by the caddies a few years back, for the maltreatment that they gave to the caddies. Although the PGA Tour emerged victorious, there were a few minor improvements made by them inclusive of the healthcare regime.

At LIV, the caddies are compensated for their flight tickets along with other related arrangements. Hotels and transportation are all paid for with much better dining areas and locker rooms than the PGA Tour events provided them. “Everywhere I go someone is asking, ‘How can we help you?’ or ‘What can we do better?” said an anonymous source delightfully.
