Tiger Woods recently found himself in a bit of hot water at the Genesis Invitational. As the golfing legend made a comeback after 8 months of break, it was evident that fans were excited to see him play. Woods took to the course, crowds flocked on to watch him. However, while playing with Justin Thomas, Woods pulled a prank that was not appreciated by many.
Tiger Woods gave a tampon to fellow player Justin Thomas after hitting the 9th drive longer than him. People were upset over the sexist and old-fashioned thoughts that Woods had used when playing the prank. He was reprimanded for his insensitivity, to which he responded a few days later with an apology.
“If I offended anybody in any way, shape or form, I’m sorry. It was not intended to be that way. It was just we play pranks on one another all the time and virally I think this did not come across that way, but between us it was — it’s different,” said his apology. However, there is one person who showed his support for the GOAT- Charles Barkley.

With the controversy being in the limelight, Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson came together to discuss the fiasco on their podcast. Barkley blamed the cancel culture of today for the brutal reactions to the seemingly harmless prank. He disliked the fact that Woods had to apologize for what could have been just a joke.
“I was deeply disturbed by how people overreacted to the tampon joke situation. I’m disgusted that he apologized, I’m not gonna lie. These people, who try to cancel – I ain’t never tried to cancel anybody,” said Barkley, taking a clear stance on his feelings towards the entire incident.
Barkley continued to defend Woods and the seemingly harmless prank that he played. “If somebody makes a mistake, apologize and keep it moving. But I don’t know when we got to the point where we can’t even tell jokes anymore. And I’m not gonna let that happen on my watch and just sit back out about and let people do that.”
He ended with some brutal comments toward fans that had criticized Woods for the prank. “So Tiger, you’re the GOAT. You should not have apologized, and for you big-mouthed people out there, if y’all wanna get mad about something, get mad about the lack of black coaches in the NFL.” Do you think it was right for Woods to apologize for the prank that he played?
