The name Phil Mickelson has made headlines in recent times. The 53-year-old veteran golfer has been one of the biggest names in the industry. He has achieved huge popularity for his actions, both on and off the field. Following his switch to LIV Golf, many have gone against him. However, one name that has stood with him is that of NBA legend Charles Barkley.

The duo seem to share an unbreakable bond and have been spotted together on several occasions. This had made Barkley one of Mickelson’s trusted allies. He even called him an “annoying friend” during the American Century Championship. However, there was one incident where Barkley did not trust his six-time major champion friend and refused to fly with him.

Ever since his younger days, Mickelson has been fond of the skies and loved flying. His father being a US Navy pilot led to “The Lefty” trying his hand at flying and successfully achieving his flying license. Despite this, Barkley does not trust his pilot skills, according to Alan Shipnuck.

As per his book, “Phil: The Rip-Roaring (and Unauthorised!) Biography of Golf’s Most Colorful Superstar,” Shipnuck claims that Mickelson insisted Barkley fly with him. However, the NBA superstar was having none of it and denied his request.
