Cristobal Del Solar stunned the golf world by shooting a low round of 57 in the first round of the Astara Golf Championship.

Cristobal Del Solar set the PGA tour scoring record with an unbelievable prowess on the course. Suffice it to say that Solar has now etched his name in history books as he shot a low round of score 57 at a PGA Tour-sanctioned Korn Ferry Tour event.

The Chilean golfer stunned the world by tying the world’s lowest round score for an 18-hole set by David Carey in 2019. This milestone moment came when Del Solar took to the green at the Astara Golf Championship.

Del Solar started with a birdie and par. In his first four holes, he managed two birdies and pars. This is where he went into frenzy mode. The golfer carded four straight birdies and followed it with an eagle. He would eventually finish the front nine with a score of 27.

Del Solar would wrap the round with a total of nine birdies, seven pars, and two eagles. Surprisingly, he missed a putt at the end. Had he made it, he would have shot a score of 56.

He is now the second Chile-based golfer this year to shoot below 60. Del Solar’s countryman, Joaquin Niemann recently carded a score of 59 during the first round of LIV Golf Mayakoba. This eventually saw him emerge victorious in the first LIV Golf event of the year.

Cristobal Del Solar’s performance has become one of the talking points in the golfing world right now. His low round of 57 is the lowest in any PGA Tour-sanctioned event. He though has credited the golf course for this low score.

The Pacos course at the Bogota Country Club is around 8,500 ft above sea level. As a result of this height, the weather conditions become crucial. Also, the course is just about 6,254 yards long, which typically allows the ball to fly high and travel more distance.

In his post-round conference, the 30-year-old golfer pointed this out but claimed he still needed to go out there and play at his best.

It was a very short course, I mean really short. A lot of holes were drivable; The course was definitely set up to shoot a low score. Now, when you go onto a course like this, you don’t think, ‘I’m going to shoot 57.’ You just go out there and do your best and hope it’s a really low score. You’ve still got to do it, obviously.

Needless to say, Del Solar is currently top of the Astara Golf Championship leaderboard with a four-shot lead. His opponents will need to up their game if they are to stop him from running away with the championship crown.
