The excitement for the 2024 LIV Golf has risen after the league released its schedule. The second full season of the breakaway tour will feature twelve regular season events and two final events. One major thing in this is that no event will be held at courses owned by Donald Trump.

The tales of the former US President in golf are countless. He has admitted to being a huge fan of golf and has followed the sport for a long time. His name has also brought some shocking controversies in golf. Despite this, he had a good relationship with LIV Golf and his properties hosted the events in the previous two seasons.

A major reason for this enormous decision by the LIV has been the off-field issues about him. The 77-year-old is undergoing trial in US courts. Since the trial began, the ex-president has not been seen in public playing golf and has not appeared at LIV Golf events.

LIV Golf has received huge flak from the golfing community due to their association with Donald Trump. The new season is set to bring in a few changes and this could be the reason the league decided not to side with the former US President and his various golf courses. However, the possibility of ruling them out completely is not gone as the league has not announced the venue for the three events. Thus there could be a chance one of his courses is picked up for an event in 2024.

Which were the events hosted by Trump courses in 2023?

The announcement to not include any courses owned by Donald Trump for the 2024 LIV Golf season has come as a surprise to many. The politician has been highly vocal of LIV Golf and has lauded their efforts in the past. His courses have previously served as hosts to some of the events of the LIV Golf in the past two seasons. The 2023 season saw three events taking place at his courses.

The events in Bedminster and Washington DC took place on Trump-owned courses. Bryson DeChambeau and Harold Varner III emerged victorious on these greens during the 2023 season respectively. In addition to this, the marquee team championship final event was moved from Saudi Arabia to the Trump Doral course in Florida. DeChambeau succeeded again here as his team won the team championship.

The exclusion of Trump’s courses from the list of hosts for the 2024 season has since seen mixed reactions from the fans. While some fans expressed their joy, some saw it as a step to move away from politics and keep the focus on golf.

The 2024 season will kick off in New Mexico on February 2 as the players head to the El Camaleon course in Mayaboka with their teams. Following that, they will travel to the US for the Las Vegas event. A total of eight countries are scheduled to witness LIV Golf in the upcoming year as the PIF-funded tour makes a huge statement regarding their future.
