On Monday, the speculations regarding the Ryder Cup came to an end as Luke Donald announced his picks for the Ryder Cup. This completed the squad for Europe team which will now face Team USA in Rome. There were some big shocks in the picks by Donald and one that has made the most noise is the exclusion of Adrian Meronk.

The likes of Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Sepp Straka, Nicolai Hojaard, Justin Rose, and Ludvig Aberg were the names selected for the Ryder Cup squad. The inclusion and exclusion of Aberg and Morenk respectively his now being heavily debated among fans and experts. The Swedish star was picked ahead of the Polish international after his win at the Omega European Masters this Sunday.

Meronk is one of the highly regarded names across European competitions. He is currently third in the DP World rankings for the Race to Dubai behind Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm. He has also collected several wins in the past.

One of his wins was at the Italian Open in May this here. Ironically, he won that event at Marco Simone, where the Ryder Cup is scheduled to be played. This along with the Australian Open and Irish Open wins in 2022 makes him one of the strongest competitors. His exclusion is now making headlines across the golfing community.

There was always going to be some competition for the final few spots in the Europe Ryder Cup team. The final spot for the team came between Ludvig Aberg and Adrian Meronk, with the former getting the nod from captain Luke Donald. He has since broken his silence following his development.

Meronk would take to his Instagram and wish the team good luck in his story. “Good luck @rydercupeurope’ he wrote on his social media handle. Fans are now drawing parallels to his snub with Keegan Bradley‘s one. Twitter (now called X) was furious with this decision and did not hold back from giving their opinion. Pressure will now be on Aberg to deliver. Despite his recent impressive performances, there are some who were not pleased with his selection. He can silence his doubters if he can continue to play with the same form he did this weekend. The Ryder Cup will kick off on September 29 and conclude on October 1 as Team USA hopes to retain the crown in Rome.
